Anvil Homes Site Manager Highly Commended by LABC Warranty

We are thrilled to say that our very own Andrew Carr has been highly commended in the Site Manager of the Year awards 2020.

Andrew, who is a director of the family business, was awarded the title in the Northern region for his fantastic work on our recent Slaley Village development. He has been with us since our inception in 1994.

LABC Warranty created these awards as a way of recognising the dedication and commitment it takes to deliver quality sites. It works with over 3,000 sites nationally, so it is a remarkable achievement for Andrew to be chosen.

Since 2007, LABC Warranty has worked with Local Authority Building Control (LABC) to provide structural warranties. The partnership provides building control and warranties throughout England and Wales using the combined technical expertise of over 3,500 surveyors. They work with some of the largest housebuilders and commercial contractors in the country.

I am thrilled to have been highly commended for the Northern region. There are many excellent site managers in our industry, so to be selected for this award is a great privilege.

Site managers are nominated by an LABC Warranty risk management surveyor who scores each site based on certain elements of the build, highlighting the very best individuals in the business.

Due to COVID-19, this year’s regional ceremonies were unfortunately cancelled. However, the awards were still announced as the invaluable work of site managers around the country has continued despite the difficult circumstances.

Sarah Sheppard, LABC Warranty Technical Director and Head Judge commented: “Even with the additional challenges posed by COVID-19, the standard of qualifiers across the board once again has been exceptional, raising the bar for construction standards”.

Andrew Carr, Director at Anvil Homes Ltd said: “I am thrilled to have been highly commended for the Northern region. There are many excellent site managers in our industry, so to be selected for this award is a great privilege.

“This has been a tough year for everyone, including the construction industry, but we have continued to power through and adhere to our very high standards. Our Slaley development is a perfect example of this.”

This is the second phase of our Slaley scheme, with our first phase being awarded best small development 2016 at the LABC Northern region awards. It was also highly commended at the Sunday Times British Homes awards that same year.

Andrew’s next project is Harlow Hill, a collection of four barn conversions in the rural hamlet, located approximately 12 miles from Newcastle.

This stunning development, due to be completed in April 2021, includes one three-bedroom and three four-bedroom stone and slate traditional barns. Each one will be finished to an exceptional standard with a high level of design and specification.

The homes all include generous gardens, offering exceptional views across Northumberland’s stunning rural countryside, while still providing an easy commute to Newcastle and Carlisle.

In addition to the excellent range of local amenities and schools, Harlow Hill is close to both Close House and Matfen Hall, providing access to golf courses, gyms, spas, and their fantastic restaurants.
